Traveling Around Holland – Cities To Visit In The Netherlands

Europe is a beautiful place to travel to and this is definitely very true when you make your way up to one of the North-Western parts of the continent and learn about traveling around Holland. When you start to learn about the Netherlands travel it will make it easier for you to have a great time because you will know which cities will be the best ones to visit, but also learn more about what you can do in these cities. What is even better is Holland is not an overly large country, which means you can stay in the countryside at some of the beautiful bed and breakfasts then go into the city for the day. However, which city are you going to visit and which are you going to want to do in the city? Well, that is what I am going to explain here by highlighting what I feel are some of the best cities to visit in the Netherlands.

How Did I Narrow Down The Cities To Visit In The Netherlands

I took a lot of trips around these cities and I can tell you that they are some of the best cities I have ever been to, not that I am biased though. Well, maybe a little bit of a biased opinion on the type of cities that I was visiting, but this is definitely a location that I did fall in love with and it will really help you in getting the right vacation you want to take and know the cities are great. The way I narrowed down the cities is the location and what they have inside of them to enjoy. What else I did was considered if you are able to bring your entire family with you in the city and be safe, if it was not that way I did not rank the city in the destination cities if I did not think they would work for these needs.

Amsterdam

With the elaborate canals that are around the city and the beautiful architecture, you cannot really go wrong by travelings to Amsterdam. When you look at this city the best thing you will find is the city is going to have plenty for you to do and since this is the capital of Holland it will definitely have a great amount of power and historical buildings for you to visit as well. I have to admit, when I am in this city I do have a tendency to make sure that I visit the flower markets which are some of the largest in the world and will definitely provide you with the best chance to see some of the flowers that have made Holland one of the largest exporters of flowers.

When you are in Amsterdam one memory you will want to make to guarantee you are going to learn about the history of the world is going to be looking at the Anne Frank house. This is a house that had the teenager hide in for several years during the Holocaust before she was discovered and sent off. The other thing you may enjoy immensely in the city is going to be the Van Gogh museum.

Delft

Delft is the city that is completely ringed in by the canals and it is definitely a city that you will want to visit. The place is well known throughout the world for the famous Delftware pottery that people use on their tables. What else is great about the city of Delft is the fact you can visit the famous square which is a nice place to sit down and do some people watching, but also have a chance to go out and make sure you are going to be able to enjoy the city as well.

What is really nice is you are able to go into the old town part of the city. When you go to this part of the city you will notice that it is going to have the former House of Orange as the seat. So this will make it easier for you to have a great trip because you can see this place. At the same time, it will make it easier for you to have a great time because you can also see some of the works that Johannes Vermeer who is one of the famous artists that were around in the 15th century.

Maastricht

This is a very old city that has a great vibe to it and it is going to be a place you are going to want to visit because it is amazing. What is great about the city is it is home to one of the most famous modern composers in Andre Rieu and his orchestra. Not to mention if you are in Maastricht in the summer months you will have a chance to get into his concerts, which I would highly recommend because this concert is stunning and definitely a time you will never forget.

The architecture that is here is going to be one of the best medieval articles that you are going to want to go out and see. It is more of a medieval style that you are going to want to see and this is going to make it one of the best trips you will enjoy. Something else that is a big attraction here is going to be the 11th-century Basilica of Saint Servatius.

Rotterdam

Sometimes getting the chance to go out and see one of the busiest seaports in the world is going to make your trip worth every minute of your vacation. This is what you are going to get when you go to Rotterdam. When you are here you will notice this is going to be a great place because you have so much to do and with the port, you can easily take your time and sit down and watch all the ships come in and out of the port. At the same time, you will notice this is going to be a port that will have a lot of things for you to do.

One of the most important things for you to see, especially if you are American is the Maritime Museum. This museum is going to showcase a lot of the history of the seafaring ways of the Dutch, but also will let you see some of the areas where the Pilgrims took off from. So this will definitely be a great stop for anyone who wants to learn about some of the histories of their Dutch roots if they came over from America.

What About The Other Cities To Visit In The Netherlands

Now, I have to admit this is a very limited list of the cities you can visit when you are in the Netherlands. However, what you will find in the cities I have listed here are going to be rather interesting and for the most part, will make it easier for you to have a great holiday and explore the country you may have never considered visiting before. With that in mind, I have narrowed down the list to the cities that I know that I really love. No matter what you are sure to find these to be some of the best cities to visit in the Netherlands.
