Peru is a very beautiful country and definitely a place that you will want to have on your bucket list. The problem is when you look at Peru in regards to travel you may overlook the different cities that you can visit because you are thinking about the mountains or the natural areas that you can go to and see the animals. We realized this can be a major issue for a lot of travelers and have decided it was time for us to make it easier for everyone by going over the best cities in Peru for travelers to visit and come to for a great week away from the stresses of their daily life.

How Did We Work On The List For Peruvian Cities? 

We really started to look at the cities that we liked and started to explore the cities to see what they offered for everyone. Now this does not mean that we focused for adults only because we want to make Peru a destination city for everyone, families, couples, singles, and even seniors. So this is going to make it easier for everyone to find the right travels and know they are going to see a city they are going to look at and know if they are going to have a good time in the city or a horrible time. With nothing else left to say about how we did our list it is time for us to actually launch into the cities to make it easier for you to know if you are getting the right vacation.

Lima 

Lima, Peru is the capital city and it is easily going to be one of the best cities for you to visit. That is because the city has one of the largest populations in the country, and in some cases even South America as it is home to eleven million people. So if you like large crowds you will feel just at home, but if you are not comfortable around larger crowds then you may want to stay away from Lima. The best part about Lima is it does provide you with the comforts that you would expect with a larger city, but also makes it quite a bit easier for you to enjoy the region as well because you will have a chance to get to see the city and the ocean since this is located on the Pacific Ocean area.

One of the major attractions that is present in Lima is going to be the Museo Larco. This main attraction in Lima, which you may end up wanting to visit after you have read about it is going to cover the pre-Columbian art that was in the region, but if you go a little bit further to the Museo de la Nacion it will allow you to start to explore the history of Peru. We would actually recommend going to the second museum as well because it will allow you to know about some of the other places that you can go to and have a great time while you are on vacation.

Paita 

Paita, Peru is definitely not going to be on the trip list for most of the people who would be traveling to Peru. However, this is a beautiful port city that people will want to learn about. The location is fairly laid back as it is a capital city for the Paita Province. So this will be a nice thing for people to see and a great way for people to start to get to know more about the culture that is present and this will make it easier for people to immerse themselves in the region.

As far as features in the region, outside of the ability to sit down and enjoy the beautiful city is the seaport. The seaport is a great place to just sit and watch the ships come and go as this is a very busy seaport on the Pacific Ocean. However, if you do not find the ships interesting you will see the Museo Elba Aranda de Sarango. This is a museum that is going to cover more of the natural history of the region. What is even better is some of the sights that are mentioned are still present so it makes it easier for you to go back into the region and see these places that you are learning about inside of the museum.

Abancay 

Abancay, Peru is a city that is a capital for two different things. The first is the city of Abancay is the capital city of Apurimac Region, but also the Abancay Province. What is really nice is this is the first city in Peru that we are covering that is not on the coast line and this will make it quite a bit easier for you to know that their is more to Peru than just cities that are along the coast line, which makes it easier for you to explore some of the natural region of Peru that is not along the coast.

When you are in Abancay we have talked quite a bit about the region and how the natural beauty if present here and that is what people are going to get. When they go to the Northeast of the city to a region known as the Mirador de Taraccasa which is going to offer you some great views of the city from the higher vantage point. However, if you want to get in touch with nature and have a professional guide because of the dangers you will find the Santuario Nacional Ampay which is a protected forest is going to have some of the pumas, spectacled bears, and other wildlife that you would expect to see in Peru.

Arequipa

The architecture is going to be something that you will like in Arequipa, which was the provincial capital of Arequipa Region during the colonial period. That is because the buildings are not like that of what you will see in other parts of Peru. Instead, this is going to be a great place because the buildings are going to have the baroque style that you will normally not see in the region. What else is interesting, but can be scary at the same time is the city of Arequipa is reigned in by volcanoes that are surrounding the city on three different sides of the city. So this can be a very active place at times.

What is going to be a great place for you to visit when you are in Arequipa is going to be a church of all things. The neoclassical Basilica is one that you are going to absolutely fall in love with because it is going to be a great place to visit. The Basilica is one of those buildings that can be intimidating at times if you are not sure what you are going to see, but it is also a place you will fall in love with as the location houses a museum that features a lot of the religious based objects that were in the region and even some of the artwork that was used in the past to help educate people about the Lord.

Ayacucho 

Ayacucho is a city that you are going to fall in love with if you love the older buildings, especially churches that have been around for years. This is a city that has quite a few colonial time period churches, but also has some of the more famous churches as well. The city of Ayacucho, Peru is actually located more in the South Central part of the country and that will allow you to experience something different in the way of climate as well, which will allow you to experience something completely different than what you would get on the coast.

What is really neat about the city of Ayacucho is the fact the city is well known in the folk art type of world. This allows you to have a chance to buy some of the unique hand crafted items that you are going to want to have to give as a gift, but it will make it easier for you to find the items that you will want to take home as well. Then you are able to bring back something that you will know that no one has been able to get before, unless they have traveled to Peru before or have purchased something from a store that imports products from Peru.

Cusco

The Incan culture is one that you are going to find as being very intriguing and it is definitely going to be a culture that you will want to learn about while you are in Peru, which is the best place to learn about this culture. What is really nice is the city of Cusco is the one city that allowed people to have a great time, but it is also the old historical capital of part of the Incan people. So this will allow you to have a great time in the city and that will make it easier for you to have a great time because you are able to explore the city and know that you are going to have a good time with the history.

When you are in the city you will notice it is higher in the Andes, which is where the Inca people were known to have lived at. However, you will also find that on top of the archaeological digs that are going on around the area is the fact that you will notice a lot of the Spanish influence in the region. So this will make it easier for you to have a great time in exploring all the regions that are around the region and be able to know this was a great place for you to have a good time.

How To Select The City To Travel To In Peru

When you are going to make your travel trips to Peru, you will notice that their are plenty of cities to select from. It really depends on what you are looking for as to which city you will want to book your trip to. This is going to make it easier for you to get the right city that you are going to look to travel to. If you want to have a crowd and a lot of excitement then you will want to look at Peru. However, if you want history and mountains then you will fall in love with Cusco, which is one of the most historical cities that you can find in Peru. Either way, the choice is yours, but it really depends on what you are going to look for in a trip to Peru.
