The People Of Belgium
You may think that Belgium since you do not hear a lot about the country, is going to have people that are unfriendly, but you need to realize this is something that is overlooked because of the position of Belgium between a couple of countries some tourist view as being harsh towards tourist. However, Belgium is the complete opposite of this as they are going to find some of the best people to come in and help them in getting the connections to people they want to have, but also have a chance to mingle with the people. Not to mention, if you start to hang out in the places the locals are going to be at, you will notice they have a tendency to welcome you, instead of making you feel like you are an outcast.
Chocolate
While Switzerland may seem like it has a corner on the chocolate market for the worlds finest, you need to realize Belgium is a great country with a lot of chocolate options. This is going to make it easier for you to have a great sweet treat, but also know you are going to find chocolate that you may have never even considered before. This, in turn, will make it quite a bit easier for you to get the beautiful chocolate treats and know you are getting high-quality chocolate. Now it is important to notice this chocolate may be sweeter than what you are used to depending on where you are traveling to Belgium from, but it is definitely something that you are going to enjoy when you are in Belgium.
Brussels
Brussels may not be the main reason to come to Belgium, but a lot of people enjoy seeing the seat of government, but what they need to realize is Brussels is the city that is the seat of power for the European Union. So not only is the country one of those that you will love because it is the capital of Belgium with plenty of attractions outside of the government bodies. If you want to see the beauty of the country and the European Union and explore the history of this great Union, then you will want to make Brussels a stop as it has some of the best history and points of interest for this aspect of the European Union.
Canal Towns
You may think the only place in Europe that has canal towns is Holland or Italy, but that is simply not true. In fact, Belgium has some of the lesser known canal towns. This is going to make it easier for you to have a great trip and enjoy the canals, but also be able to avoid a lot of the headaches that are present in the main tourist cities that are present in Holland and even in Venice. So you will want to make sure you know about places like Ghent and other places that have some of the main canals and at times have been compared to the same beauty as Venice and have been able to be seen as one of the best towns to visit and avoid a lot of the crowds.
Medieval Towns
While this may seem like it is going to be a little bit on the harsh side, this is not the case. In fact, some of the towns in Belgium have been called the best preserved Medieval Towns in all of Europe. So this will allow you to get the romanticism of the by-gone times and know they are going to be present here. The key is not to expect to see the towns still burning wood fire with the thatched roofs, but instead, you will get a chance to see some of the beautiful villages that are present and know they are not really changed that much since the time they were built in the 14th-century or even further back. No matter what this is something that you are going to enjoy because these towns are definitely what you are going to love because it is going to give you a chance to step back in history and even in the previous war torn village of Bastogne you have a chance to see the battered defensive walls that have stood around the city since the 14th century.
Belgium – A Great Country
No matter what you reason for coming to Belgium, one thing that you are going to find is a group of friendly people that are going to welcome you as a tourist with open arms. However, what you need to realize is Belgium is a great country to go and visit. It is definitely going to be a great place for you to go and enjoy, but you will find the country is one that you are simply going to fall in love with once you have visited the location or even read about the place.
