Traveling To Maui With Kids? Find The Best Attractions In Maui
Maui is sometimes called paradise by a lot of people, but you need to realize when you travel with kids, you will need to find some attractions the kids are going to love as well. The problem is not all of the attractions are the same and with this being said, Hawaii, as small as it is, has its own identity almost on each island. So we have decided it was time to have Israel head out and address this issue as only he can. The way that he is able to address this issue is by finding the best Maui attractions for kids to enjoy and know the kids are going to have a great time while they are around these attractions.
How Did I Narrow Down My List Of Kid Friendly Attractions In Maui
Well, this was a fun one to day because my own kids loved to do this with me. So it definitely meant more family time, but it also meant that I had the input of kids as well. Now my kids are starting to become teens so it was a lot harder to get them to spend time with their dad, who is so uncool to them. However, they know the value of having some good family time, but also know the value of helping others out to have a good time or when they are in need. With that being the case, here are the top attractions that are meant for kids when they are traveling around Maui.
Maui Ocean Center
Sometimes, even when you are in a place called paradise, you will want to get a chance to see the fish that are swimming off the short. However, you may notice it is very difficult to do without some proper gear and a diving instructor because the fish do not like being found or you are going in the wrong area or time of day. This is what you will love about the Maui Ocean Center and this is something that my kids definitely loved and that is the fact this is a large aquarium the entire family can enjoy. The wide variety of sea life present in the Maui Ocean Center can definitely make it a great place to go, but it also makes it one of those places that you are going to enjoy because of the beauty of the fish. You can even go nose to nose, with the glass separating you from sharks, have a chance to see stingrays up close. Throw in the vibrant colors of the tropical fish and it quickly becomes easy to see why the kids are going to love coming to the Maui Ocean Center.
Makena State Park
Yes, this is a park, but you need to realize not all parks are like the ones you may be used to seeing at your home. This park is one that is simply amazing and definitely going to provide you with some great adventures because it makes it quite a bit easier for you to have a great time with the beach. The beach is definitely going to be a major draw for the kids, but it should be a draw for you as well because it has some great water for you to enjoy. Depending on the age of your kids they will enjoy the fact they can go body boarding off of the waters of Makena State Park. Either way the beach is a very popular draw and outside of the “big beach” it is one of the most popular beaches for you to go to and enjoy your trip even more.
Iao Valley
It is not every day that you have a chance to go and see a natural landmark. However, that is exactly what you get to do in Iao Valley. This is a beautiful place that offers a lot for the kids to go out and see, but also gives them a chance to reconnect with nature. The location does have plenty of photo ops for you to use as well, which is going to be nice and make it easier for you to have a good time. The downside is you will have to motivate your kids to go out hiking, but once you are out on the trails it becomes easy for you to see them starting to have a good time and knowing they are enjoying the trip. Not to mention the Iao Valley has quite a bit of history for you to explore as well, which is going to make it quite a bit easier for you to have a good time and educate yourselves as well. If you want you can even see a volcano up close as the valley is formed by some of the volcanoes that we are always worried about going off, but it is one of those places that you are simply going to fall in love with time and time again.
Maui Tropical Plantation
Discovering where the food comes from is something that all kids need to do. Then they will realize it is real people that work hard to make the food and guarantee it will be around when people go to eat dinner that night. The problem is so many kids are unsure where the food comes from that they think they just have to go to the store and buy it where it is made. That is what makes the Maui Tropical Plantation such a great destination for you to go. The farm is working and still holds some of the traditional methods that were used for years in place, but it also is a farm that offers a tour of the place as well. What is nice about the farm and for your kids, who may want to sit down after all the hiking that we have spoke of so far is the farm tour is done with a tram. Then the kids are contained, but also they are getting the lessons they need to have on how a farm works and where the food comes from.
Wailea Beach
Hawaii is not complete without the beautiful beaches that are around the region. I have to admit, Wailea beach is one of those beaches that we know is very popular for weddings and other things, but we decided to include it on our list. The beach is one that is simply amazing and well known in Maui for the beautiful spots that allow yourself and your kids both to get out and sunbathe if you want. However, at the same time if you start to get to hot, hot in Hawaii, never heard of that before! You will find the waters that are off of Wailea Beach to be very calm most of the time and easily one of the best pieces of water for you to get out into and know that everyone in the family will be comfortable getting into the water. So this is definitely one of those beaches that if you miss out on, it is your own fault and definitely not something that you would want to do because it is an amazing place for you to visit.
Maui Nui Botanical Gardens
This is one of those attractions that I basically told my kids they were going to see. As usual when your kids are almost teens I ddi get a lot of sighs about the fact that I wanted them to come out and see it. However, they were amazed once they went out and started to see the gardens. The Maui Nui Botanical Gardens is a location that is home to quite a few native species that you are going to have a chance to go out and enjoy seeing. What else is nice is they have tried to keep these species as natural as possible. So you will not have to be concerned about the plants looking out of place, but instead may end up amazed at what they offer for you to go out and see when you are looking at the plants.
Is This All The Attractions For Kids In Maui?
Maui is not that big, but it has plenty for the entire family to do. I know that we covered quite a few attractions here. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg of what all Maui does offer for the kids to do and see. I know that my kids, while they were reluctant to go with mom and dad at first, were very sad once we told them that we had to go home. They were so disappointed they started to ask when we would be able to go back to Maui to let them see even more of the attractions and have more time to enjoy the attractions. I know that I will be thrilled if the editors allow me to cover more of Maui, but I know that I have to cover all of Hawaii as well.
