If you are in Asheville then you may want to learn about one of the main attractions that you can go out and find. Well, I have to say that the first attraction that may come to your mind would be the Biltmore, which I cannot really blame you for considering. However, what you may not realize is another place that you can check out is the North Carolina Arboretum. Granted, it is not nearly as large as the Biltmore, but it still has plenty for you to see and do, but the best part is it is almost all outdoors allowing you to breath in the fresh mountain air. What I Like About The North Carolina Arboretum

The Variety Of The Plants

While the location does not have a lot of the exotic plants that you may expect to see, it does have a lot of plants with a good variety. This makes it quite a bit easier for you to enjoy the location and know that most of the plants in the location are native to the area. This does make it quite a bit easier for you to check out the plants and learn about them, but also makes it easier for you to have a good trip with the fact that you can leave with more knowledge or go into the woods outside of the arboretum and know what plant is what.

Trails That Are On The Grounds

Normally when I go out to the woods or to a park I am limited in the number and selection of the trails. However, this is a location that does have a limited number of trails, which is obvious for any place, but they do have a lot of trails to hike on. These make it quite a bit easier for you to find a trail to go and hike on, but also learn while on the trails. I will warn you that if you want to take full advantage of the place bring your good shoes and great ready to go for a long hike as you may end up spending most of the day at the North Carolina Arboretum.

Great Place To Go For A Picnic

Now, what a better way to enjoy the outdoors than to have a picnic? Well, I know for me that I really like going to some of the restaurants in Asheville that have carry out lunches or dinners. Picking up some of those and then bringing it with me here for a picnic. Now, I do not know how the Covid-19 is going to impact this aspect of what I enjoy here, but I can tell you if you can sit down and enjoy the location with some food you will not be disappointed in the atmosphere you get to enjoy the food in.

What I Did Not Care For

The Cost Of Parking

How can I pick out something like the cost of parking or even admission to put down as what I do not like? Is it because I am a cheapskate? Some may think so, but others not so much. In fact, the only reason that I am picking on the price here is from the fact that I really enjoy the location overall and think it is great, but it could be expensive for some people.

What Others Are Saying

While not everyone is positive here is one thing that Luvnlif1969 had to say, “nice staff and plenty of beautiful plants and flowers”. This helps lend more credence to what we have already mentioned about the location having plenty of plants for you to enjoy. These definitely seem to be the jist of what I found with a lot of the reviews from people online.

Advisorman2015 from TripAdvisor has this to say about the location as well, “great place to visit with family and friends”.  When I was writing this article, I did not really think about the family aspect, but it definitely makes sense. So I would have to say that I highly recommend the location if you are looking for a place to go as a family.

My Final Thoughts On The North Carolina Arboretum

If you like the outdoors, then you are going to enjoy the North Carolina Arboretum. The location has plenty of trails for you to follow. However, unlike a lot of the places that I have been on that are trails or outdoors this place almost always seems to have a plant or flower that is in bloom. This does not mean if you are here in December that you would see flowers in bloom outdoors, but with the temperate climate the arboretum tends to have something in bloom almost all the time. Overall, I have to say if you are looking for a nice outdoor location that is fairly easy to find and enjoy then you cannot really go wrong here.
