However, you may notice that it can be a challenge to find kid-specific things that you can do with them at times. We know this is a major issue and with that being the case we have decided to find some of the kid-friendly things you can do when you are traveling in Dublin. The downside is some of these are not things to do do in Dublin for free nor are they the romantic things to do in Dublin as that will be in a future post.

Dublin Castle

When you are looking at Ireland you may have never thought about this being a country that had a monarchy at one point in time. The Dublin Castle is the place that was built to house the monarchy in the form of King John in 1204. It was the castle that served as his home and the home of the Irish royalty for years. Now the monarchy is no longer in place in Ireland, but they are definitely still using Dublin Castle as a government center as this is the place that has managed to house quite a bit of the government of Ireland and has made it easier for you to have a great place to go and visit, but also a great place that you can enjoy because of the beauty of the region and what kind of history is seen in the location as well.

National Leprechaun Museum

Ireland is well known for the legend of the Leprechaun. However, what a lot of people have found as being a challenge is finding the leprechaun at the end of the rainbow. What is great about the country of Ireland and Dublin is the fact they have taken some of the Irish charm to heart and have come up with a museum for the leprechaun. This is definitely a place you are going to like with the kids because it is going to be an amazing place that everyone is going to enjoy. With the museum, you will find a guided tour through the folklore of the leprechaun but also have a chance to experience all the optical illusions that are present in the museum to help trick your mind.

Christ Church Cathedral

Exploring a cathedral may not seem like it would be that fun to do. However, Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin is completely different than what you would expect with most of the cathedrals and that is because this cathedral is coming up on being a thousand years old. Yes, you read that right one thousand years old and they offer tours to allow you to get the full immersion of the location. You just have to make sure you check out the tours and book them in advance, but you will have plenty to see while you are on the tour from the crypts to the footsteps of the pilgrims, which came to see the talking cross and a piece from the crib of Jesus. Either way this is one tour that any Christian family is going to enjoy and be able to see and enjoy the history of the location.

Imaginosity Children Museum

If you have kids that are going to want to pass the time pretending and using their imagination then you will want to take them to Imaginosity. Granted this location is meant more for the locals who want to have their kids have a great time and expand their imagination it is a great place to take your kids to if you want to have them get rid of some of their energy. Either way, the kids are going to love the chance to explore this because it is going to be a great time for them and you have a chance to mingle with some of the locals, which can help you get even more ideas on how to find the different activities that you can do with your kids.

Dublinia

Do you want to know what the streets of Dublin would look like when they were around in the Medieval times? If you have then you will want to make sure you hit up Dublinia. This is a great place that you are going to love because you are going to have a chance to go and see some of the best places, but also try on the Viking outfits and walk the streets of a bygone era of Dublin. This is going to make it easier for you to have a great time, but the kids can have a chance to explore the older kitchens that would have been seen during this time, but also have a chance to learn some of the games that the kids would have been playing all of those years ago.
